The United States Association of Reptile Keepers (USARK) is a registered non-profit organization duly incorporated in the state of North Carolina.
We are advocates for the practice of Herpetoculture; the non-traditional agricultural pursuit of farming high quality captive bred reptiles & amphibians for conservation projects, zoos, museums, research facilities, education, entertainment and pets.
We are dedicated to conservation through captive propagation, and espouse the ideal of, "Preserving Reptiles & Amphibians for Our Future".
We endorse a 'Keepers Code of Ethics'. Our members are veterinarians, researchers, breeders, manufacturers, feed producers, hobbyists and pet owners; collectively known as the Reptile Nation.
Our membership accounts for annual trade revenues of $1.4 billion in the US. USARK is the only advocate of the conservation, responsible ownership and trade of reptiles and amphibians as a #1 priority with no conflicting interests.
Breeding Timeline

With so many genetic pattern and color mutations in Ball Pythons, its no wonder we have more and more hobbyist looking to turn their small collections into breeding programs.
This Breeding Timeline is designed to help those with little or no experience, find their way into successful reproduction and healthy offspring. Its a general overview of the guidelines I use, the steps of copulation, and the phases of female reproduction.
Although there are many variabilities in the Ball Python breeding cycle I have found this timeline to be very consistent for me and many other breeders.
I hope you find it informative and wish you success in your breeding endevors, as always you are welcome to contact me with any questions you may have. I do not have all the answers but I am always happy to share what I have learned through personal experience.
ASF Husbandry

Believe it or not the general care and breeding of ASF Rats within the Reptile and Pet Communities is so diverse, that someone looking to start colonies for propagation may find it hard to decypher what is truth and what is speculation.
In this writeup you will find first hand information on the Husbandry of ASF Rats from absolute personal experience, not regurgitated misinformation that is all too common nowadays.
I will explain what has worked best for me, over the years, in keeping and selectively breeding these amazing little animals. How to keep your colonies not only healthy but also happy, afterall the quality of life should be as important as the physical health of any animal we care for, despite the reasons most of us, in the reptile community, keep and breed various types of rodents. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the ASF Rat.
